This air fryer French toast recipe has a fairly simple ingredient list but plenty of taste!

French toast is one of those recipes which looks a lot harder than it is. Unsurprisingly, it’s even easier if you have a Cosori air fryer. This breakfast treat can be very fluffy if you get the batter right. Top it up with the right toppings, and you will be delighted.

One of our favourite reasons for using the Cosori for our air fryer French toast recipe is that we can leave it cooking unattended. Usually, I clear up the kitchen in the meantime or prepare the toppings. However, if you are cooking it in a pan, you’ll need to keep a close eye on it so it does not get burnt.

Another benefit is getting the ‘deep fried’ effect without all the extra oil and fat. It’s also very easy to clean the Cosori basket, so there is less cleaning up time. That’s a yes from me.

The ingredient list for Cosori air fryer French toast is fairly simple. You will need thick slices of bread, eggs, milk, and vanilla. The toppings are up to you; you can be as creative as you like or still the simple and what works.

Make sure each slice in your loaf is around 1 inch in thickness. Since it is not common to find French loaves sliced to this thickness, you might need to buy an un-sliced loaf instead.

The un-sliced French loaf is not readily found in stores. However, with a little preparation beforehand, you can get your hands on a loaf just in time to make this recipe. We recommend speaking to or calling Greens Supermarket or Maypole Bakeries the day before to book an un-sliced French loaf.

They are usually quite happy to help out.

According to Jon and I, the perfect amount of French toast slices is three. This three-layered Cosori air fryer French toast recipe was enough for us to share. Our toppings always depend on the season.

Since June, we opted for some figs (figs are in season May – June in Malta). Paired with the figs, we added honey and feta cheese. Cinnamon is optional, but we would recommend it.

If figs do not tickle your fancy, or perhaps figs are not currently in season when you are reading this, there are plenty of different toppings you can opt for. You can keep it simple and use cinnamon and honey. Another favourite is strawberries and Fraiche creme.

We love French toast with fresh fruit. A great combination is honey, blueberries, raspberries, and fresh mint. Topping with Nutella and banana is an obvious choice for people with a sweet tooth.

This air fryer French toast recipe can take between 15 and 25 minutes to prepare and cook in the Cosori. Many people will recommend cooking the battered French toast for 3 minutes on both sides at a low 160oC, however, we feel that to get the perfect golden toast colour, we prefer 8 minutes on both sides.

We found that the French toast was golden brown, crispy on the outside and soft and fluffy on the inside, just as we like it!

Let’s take a look at the recipe!

Ingredients

3 slices of bread

3 eggs

120ml whole milk

1 tsp vanilla

Toppings

1 fig

50g feta cheese

1 tbsp Honey

½ tsp cinnamon

Method

  1. Preheat your Cosori for 5 minutes using the preheat feature.

  2. Slice the bread into slices of 1-inch thickness.

  3. Beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla until smooth.

  4. Dip the bread into the mixture. Shake carefully to remove the excess batter.

  5. Place each slice of dipped bread into the Cosori air fryer.

  6. Cook at 160oC for 8 minutes. When ready, flip and cook on the other side for a further 8 minutes.

  7. When the toast is golden brown, dip it in cinnamon (if it does not stick, you may use a thin layer of butter or honey) and plate.

  8. Add the figs, and crumbled feta cheese

  9. Pour some honey on top.

  10. Enjoy!

Ultimately, it's worth emphasising that if you're in the market for an air fryer in Malta, our top recommendation is undoubtedly the Cosori. This versatile appliance stands out for its user-friendly design, long-lasting durability, and sleek aesthetic, seamlessly complementing any kitchen space.

Whether you're a culinary novice or an experienced cook, the Cosori simplifies meal preparation and adds a touch of style to your countertop. Its air fryer Malta heaven!
